THREADENING PROJECT
Threadening the Environment is a multimedia awareness initiative. Focusing on the disposal habits of Filipino consumers. We explore everyday fashion waste and its harm. Why do we throw away so many clothes? What happens when we hoard or forget them? What impact do those choices have? That’s what we’re here to unpack.
Through a combination of visuals and informative content. We aim to promote impactful sustainable habits. Small actions like donating or upcycling reduce waste. All of this can make a big difference. This isn’t just about fashion. It’s about being mindful, responsible, and informed consumers. If you’ve ever asked yourself, “What should I do with all these clothes?”—We are here to guide you toward more mindful, responsible clothing habits.
OUR PURPOSE
Fast fashion continues to grow, but so does its environmental impact. Every year, millions of garments end up in landfills across the world. Most Filipino consumers remain unaware their clothing disposal habits contribute to this. Gen Z and Millennial Filipinos often follow fast-changing fashion trends impulsively. They buy clothes quickly and discard them just as quickly afterwards. Instead of donating, upcycling, or exploring sustainable second-hand options, many throw clothes away. These discarded clothes add to overflowing landfills and cause long-term ecological harm.
This project aims to inform and influence Filipino consumers to become more mindful about what they do with their clothes after use. By encouraging small, sustainable actions, we hope to inspire a shift toward more responsible fashion choices and disposal habits.
