WEAVING THE PRESENT

WEAVING THE PRESENT

Fast fashion took off in the 1990s with brands like Zara, H&M, and Forever 21 leading the way—offering cheap, trendy clothes with fast turnaround times. Today, brands like Shein drop 6,000 new styles weekly.
People buy 60% more clothes than they did 15 years ago, and wear them half as long. Each year, 92 million tons of textile waste are produced. That’s a garbage truck of clothes dumped every second. The industry also emits 10% of global carbon emissions.
